Page Authority Checker

Page Authority Checker

Measure the ranking strength of a single page and compare it with rivals

What the Page Authority Checker Does

Page Authority, or PA, is a score from 1 to 100 that estimates how likely one specific URL is to rank in search results. While Domain Authority looks at a whole website, PA looks at a single page. The Page Authority Checker on WebTOOLkt lets you paste a URL and see its score, so you can compare individual pages: your own against a competitor's, or one of your articles against another.

It helps content marketers decide which pages to update, SEO specialists plan internal linking and link builders judge whether a page is worth chasing for a backlink.

How Page Authority Differs From Domain Authority

Both scores come from Moz and both predict ranking potential, but they answer different questions. Moz describes the page-level metric in its Page Authority guide. Think of it this way:

  • Domain Authority: how strong is the website as a whole?
  • Page Authority: how strong is this particular URL?

A new article on a powerful domain may start with a modest PA, because few links point to it yet. An older guide with many links can have a PA that outshines the rest of its small site. Neither score is a Google ranking factor, so use both as comparison tools rather than targets.

How to Use the Page Authority Checker

  1. Copy the full URL of the page, including https://.
  2. Paste it into the tool and run the check.
  3. Note the PA score.
  4. Check the top-ranking pages for your target keyword and compare their scores with yours.
  5. Re-check after you earn new links or update the page, but allow time. Scores update slowly.

Use the exact URL version you want to measure. Pages with and without a trailing slash, or with tracking parameters, may be treated as different addresses.

What You Can Do With a PA Score

  • Prioritise content updates. Pages with high PA already have a link foundation, so improving them often pays off faster than starting from scratch.
  • Plan internal links. Link from your high-PA pages to important pages that need a boost, using descriptive anchor text.
  • Judge backlink targets. A link from a relevant, authoritative page is generally more valuable than one from an unknown page on a strong domain.
  • Analyse the competition. If every top result has a much higher PA than your page, expect to need stronger content and more links to compete.
  • Find weak spots. Important pages with very low PA may lack internal links or may be hard to find.

Reading the Number Sensibly

As with Domain Authority, the scale is logarithmic, so the same effort produces smaller gains as scores rise. A PA of 20 on a new page can be perfectly healthy. Rather than chasing a particular score, ask whether the page deserves to rank: does it answer the search clearly, with original value and a good experience? Authority metrics follow quality, they do not replace it.

Also remember that different tools calculate their own versions of these scores, so compare numbers from the same source.

How to Raise the Authority of a Page

  1. Make the page the best answer on the web for its topic, with clear headings, original examples and up-to-date information.
  2. Link to it from related pages on your own site.
  3. Promote it where your audience already gathers, so people can discover and reference it.
  4. Earn links with data, templates, tools and expert commentary that others want to cite.
  5. Keep the URL stable. If you must move it, use a proper redirect so existing links keep working.
  6. Keep the page crawlable and indexed. Google's guidance on crawlable links explains how to make links easy to follow.

Why Use This Tool Instead of Other Options

The Page Authority Checker is free, quick and needs no sign-up. Rather than leaving you with a bare number, this page explains what the score represents and how to act on it. It works alongside the Domain Authority Checker and the combined DA PA Checker, so you can examine a site at both levels without switching websites.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Page Authority the same as PageRank?

No. PageRank was a Google algorithm, while Page Authority is a Moz metric designed to predict ranking potential.

Why is my new page's PA low?

New pages have few links pointing to them. Scores usually rise as the page earns links and attention.

Can a page with low PA rank well?

Yes. Relevance and quality can outweigh authority, especially for specific, less competitive searches.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
